Filmproject in Ghana

The organisation Filem'on for whom I've been working in Brussels, surprised a Flemish colleague and me with a project documentary-film.
The two of us gave workshops docu-film to a small group of children of a youth center.

Purpose was that the children would create a film themselves during their stay in Ghana this summer. In fact they are musicians and they have had exchanges with Ghana before.
(Centrum West & the Fanfakids, at Sankofa orphanage, Eguafo, Ghana.)
Now they added a movie to the project, and my colleague and I went to Ghana to produce and guide the making of this film.

Result is 'You are invited' which consists out of four parts.

The film is screened in Brussels at the festival Filem'on and in Mechelen at the festival Making Movies November 2011.
Check one of the four movies at: Filem'on

During my stay in Eguafo, my colleague Nele and I gave workshops animation film and photography to the children of the Sankofa school.

workshops for Filem'on

Part of the festival week of Filem'on, I worked on a project with a group a children at a daycare called Ratatouille. The festival theme was 'anthropology in the kitchen' and thus we created our movies around food and eating. I co-operated with a designer, Caro, who did a workshop eatable design with the same group of children. We combined our workshops and these are the results.

Beam, media for the youth

In assignment of Beam I worked a week long with a group of children and a Flemish colleague, Jochem, in the city center of Brussels. The theme of the week was 'Superhero's' so the children thought of a story with a monster, a female superhero and three clumsy male superhero's. They acted the story, animated their self-created monster and did some audio-recordings.

My French is still improving, but to this group of children between the 6 and 10 years old, I managed to give a workshop animation in French! I was asked to give this workshop by Filem'on, part of the collaboration with Cine Club, Brussels.

Cine Club is an initiative of Bains Connective, in collaboration with: Wiels, la Maison de Quartier Saint-Antoine, Filem’on, APOMSA and the Service de PrĂ©vention de Forest.

Media and Animation Workshop

As closing activity to a project about media at the primary schools Stromenwijk, Beverburch and Cederhof in Middelburg, the Netherlands, I gave a workshop Animation.
For this workshop we made not only stopmotion and pixelation films, but we looked into the technique at a theoretical level as well.

Educate Animationfilm

Another connection I made in Brussels is Jekino. This organisation distributes films and educates film to the youth.
I work for them as a freelancer, giving workshops and small exhibitions where children can explore the medium animation film. It is great fun and Jekino creates a very nice working environment.
