Screening of animation at HAFF2009 and Cinestud2010

While I was in Tanzania, my animation 'C'est le ton qui fait la musique' was shown at the Holland Animation Film Festival in Utrecht, NL, in the student competition.
It was screened again in a sideprogram of the Klik! Festival at Cinestud in Amsterdam. This time I could enjoy seeing my animation in the cinema.

Illustration workshop at the primary school 'de Kring'

Following the national week of the children-book, I was asked to give an illustration workshop to five classes at 'de Kring', a primary school for special education (for children with speaking or hearing disorders and autism).
I made the children think of different genres in books and made them choose colors belonging to the emotions you experience reading such a book. After the children picked dark colors for the negative stories and bright colors for the positive stories, they made an illustration themselves, using either one of those chosen colors.

Curating a Symposium for Klik! Animation Festival Amsterdam

Also taking place during my MA, was the curating of a Symposium for Klik!. Tiddo Muda and Marlyn Spaaij once again being my colleagues, since we where asked to curate the Symposium after the program director of the festival (Yvonne van Ulden) had read our MA essays.
The theme of the Klik! festival was science, and besides the screening of animated shorts on this theme, the Symposium brought together animators and scientists to discuss the uses, strengths and weaknesses of animation on behalf of scientific illumination and education.
We have found an interesting group of scholars, scientists and animators, whose lectures, animation screenings and discussions made the Symposium what we hoped it to be.
Along this Symposium Tiddo Muda, Marlyn Spaaij and I wrote a publication for the Symposium, supported by the HKU, edited by Florian Duijsens.

Truly Fantastic, research and animation for my MA

Werkelijk Fantastisch : Truly Fantastic
For my MA project I worked together with Tiddo Muda and Marlyn Spaaij.
Motivation for the project is to emancipate the genre of animation beyond that of mere children's entertainment. Therefore adults are our target group and the animation product is made to add extra value to socially and politically engaged television programs. Through the power of irony we question the values of Dutch society. After the laughter follows reflection.

Exhibition commission Eject

During my own graduation year I was part of the commission to design and organize the graduation exhibition. We created the concept of a festival-like exhibition, where the interior and exterior would become one: tents to exhibit in and grass on the floor. Since the exhibition was for the graduation of the whole media department of the HKU (games, films, music, animation and video installations) we called it Eject.

In assignment of the foreign affairs ministry of the Netherlands and with support of the HKU where I studied Animation, I went with five other media BA and MA students to Tanzania. Here we taught music, film and animation at the art academy TaSUBa, to students ánd teachers. An unforgettable time and I enjoyed teaching very much.

Once through CASCO, Office for Art, Design and Theory, Utrecht, NL and once through Project Manufacturing Today, Trondheim Norway, I worked for the artist Annette Krauss.
She does projects at highschools and I edited the video material which is the result of those projects.

Workshops Animation

During my internship at Pedri Animations we gave a workshop animation at Cinekid Amsterdam, a festival on media for children.

Later I gave a lecture and workshop on animation to a group of members of the 'Soroptimisten'. We made a pixellation on the spot.
